The Silver Arowana is a freshwater fish native to South America, particularly found in the Amazon River Basin. Known for its sleek, elongated body and metallic silver sheen, it is one of the more popular species of Arowana in the aquarium trade. Silver Arowanas are powerful swimmers and can reach impressive lengths, often growing up to 3 feet (90 cm) in captivity.
They are also known for their ability to jump out of the water to catch prey, sometimes leaping several feet into the air. While easier to care for than their Asian counterparts, Silver Arowanas still require a large tank, a varied diet, and a secure lid due to their jumping behavior.
